Trading Standards officers in Lincolnshire are warning of the dangers posed by illegal cigarettes after a fire in Spalding which claimed the lives of three men, Marian Laczynski, Pawel Lazarewicz and Sylwester Grabczewsk.

An Inquest into the deaths in Tower Lane, heard how the men, who rented rooms in the house, regularly smoked imported cigarettes. Fire officers believe they were to blame after one was left on a bed.

The cigarettes don't have the same safety features as UK ones which go out if not smoked.

The inquest also heard how the men would cover the smoke detectors so they wouldn't set off the alarm.

The Coroner concluded that the deaths of the three men who had been drinking heavily, was due to misadventure.
