People in Suffolk are being urged to steer clear of a golden eagle that has escaped between Ipswich and Stowmarket.

It was reported missing from a private property in the Coddenham/ Hemingstone area.

It is thought the eagle with a six-foot wing span is unlikely to travel too far because of the current weather.

The bird is larger than a buzzard and has a ring and tethers on it. It has recently been fed but it is possible it could still prey on small animals.

The public have been urged not to approach the bird, but contact Suffolk Police on 101.
