Thousands remain without gas after pipe damaged
Thousands of homes in Bedfordshire remain without gas after builders damaged a pipe.
Properties affected are in Ampthill, Clophill, and Maulden.
National Grid said their engineers have been to over 3,000 properties to turn off gas supplies.
A spokesman said: "Almost 2,600 have been safely switched off. However, we haven't been able to get access to around 400 properties that we have visited.
"We have to turn off the meter of every property before gas can be pumped back into the gas network and supplies restored.
"Please arrange for someone to be at home so we can switch you off. The sooner we are able to switch everybody off the sooner we can restore supplies."
Residents that need to make arrangements should call National Grid on 0845 835 1111.
