A woman from Essex has been sentenced after admitting causing unnecessary suffering to a lamb when she failed to treat the animal’s broken leg.

Joanna Smith of Alexandra Road, Sible Hedingham, was sentenced to carry out 50 hours of unpaid work.

Colchester Magistrates’ Court also ordered her to pay £300 in court costs and an £80 victim surcharge.

RSPCA inspector Adam Jones said Smith, who was running a petting farm, failed to get the lamb help after she was told it needed treatment.
