The 13th century tree in line for a national award
Since the 13th century a tree at Mistley in Essex has stood tall and proud.
Wars have come and gone, there have been countless Kings and Queens, cars have replaced horses as the main mode of transport, television and telephones have been invented the list of things that Old Knobbley - yes it really has a name- has lived through, goes on and on.
Old Knobbley has had it's fair share of personal drama too. It was once ravaged by fire and was home to a hornet's nest. There are also rumours it was even a hiding place for witches
Now the tree that's so loved by people living in Mistley that it's got it's own website could be about to become famous across the world,.
It's because Old Knobbley is in the running to become National Tree of the Year.
