Amber weather warning for torrential thundery rain
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for torrential thundery rain for parts of the Anglia region.
The areas affected by the amber warning are south Essex and south Hertfordshire.
The whole of the Anglia region is covered by a yellow weather warning for heavy rain.
The amber warning is valid from 3am until 10am on Friday 16 September 2016. The yellow weather warning it valid from 00.10am until 6pm on Friday.
The Met Office says an area of torrential, thundery rain is expected to develop across the region during early Friday morning bringing the potential for exceptionally large amounts of rain within a few hours.
It says frequent lightning and hail may be additional hazards and whilst there remains some uncertainty about developments and areas affected, there could be major disruption.
The Met Office is warning: "Be prepared for the potential for very severe weather conditions bringing flash flooding and disruption to transport."
