Ellie's school celebrates her Paralympic victory

There have been scenes of jubilation at Ellie Robinson's school in Northampton as they celebrate her gold medal in the swimming pool at the Paralympics in Rio.

15-year-old Ellie stormed to victory in the S6 50 metres butterfly with a Paralympic record time of 35.58 seconds.

Fellow pupils at Northampton High School celebrated her victory on Friday when they returned to morning assembly on Monday.

Fellow pupils said everyone was 'buzzing' at school and talking about her win in Rio.

One said: "It's funny to see someone we see every day do something so amazing and it makes you think maybe I can do something like that."
