Jason Dozzell reflects on 'proud day' as son scores on Ipswich Town debut
Former Ipswich Town midfielder Jason Dozzell admits he "shed a few tears" when his son scored on his professional debut at the age of 16 against Sheffield Wednesday over the weekend.
Andre Dozzell headed in Liam Feeney's cross to salvage a 1-1 draw for Town after coming on as a substitute.
Amazingly, Jason also scored on his debut for Ipswich at the same age back in 1984 and still holds the record for the youngest goalscorer in England's top flight.
Dozzell Snr travelled up to Sheffield to watch his son play and says he was overcome with emotion when the ball hit the back of the net.
Manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Dozzell will get a chance to impress from the start tomorrow night when Ipswich host Fulham at Portman Road.
Dozzell Jnr is building a reputation as a rising star, and has recently been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal.
