A 43-year-old man has admitted making a bomb hoax towards a Tesco supermarket at Great Yarmouth in Norfolk.

Stewart Nightingale, of North Quay in the town pleaded guilty to one count of blackmail and one count of making a bomb hoax by placing an article with intent at Norwich Crown Court .

It follows an incident at the Tesco store in Pasteur Road on Friday 6 March last year.

A 100 metre cordon was put in place around the scene and an evacuation of the supermarket took place to ensure the public’s safety.

Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers were deployed to the scene and safely disposed of the item and further enquiries established the incident was a result of a hoax call.

Nightingale will be sentenced at Norwich Crown Court next month.
