Bernard Cribbins relives his days in the Parachute Regiment in Colchester
69 years after he last jumped out of a Dakota aircraft, Bernard Cribbins returned to the Parachute Regiment, now based in Colchester, to relive his days of National Service.The star of children's TV, the Carry on films, Dr Who and countless other shows handed over a cheque for £17,000 for 'Support our Paras' he helped raise during a fishing event.
Mr Cribbins met current paratroopers and discussed the differences in how the regiment was run.
At the age of 87, Bernard Cribbins is still working and will next appear in a version of Midsummer Night's Dream in April.
