Heavy rain sparks flood alerts in the Anglia region

Heavy rain across the Anglia region has seen river levels rise and the Environment Agency has issued a number of flood warnings and flood alerts.

Flood warning in the Anglia region

  • Northamptonshire: River Nene at Cogenhoe Mill Caravan Site and the Northampton Washland

A 'Flood Warning' means flooding is expected and immediate action required

Flood alerts in the Anglia region

A 'flood alert' is the lowest level warning issued by the Environment Agency and means flooding is possible so be prepared.

  • Norfolk: Rivers Yare & Tiffey upstream of Marlingford and the River Tas

  • Norfolk: The River Mun at Mundesley

  • Cambs: Lower River Cam and tributaries including the Hobson and Coldham's Brooks

  • Suffolk: River Gipping from downstream of Needham Market to upstream of London Road Bridge, Ipswich

  • Suffolk: Thorpeness Hundred River & the River Ore from Framlingham to Blaxhall, inclusive

  • Northants/Cambs: River Nene between Cogenhoe and Wansford

  • Norfolk: River Tud and the River Wensum from Great Ryburgh to Lenwade, including Wendling Beck

  • Cambs: The River Granta and River Bourn

  • Suffolk: Rattlesden River and River Gipping through and including Stowmarket and Needham Market

  • Essex: River Wid from Ingatestone to, and including Writtle and the River Can at Chelmsford

  • Northants/Bucks: Upper Ouse in Buckinghamshire and the River Tove in Northamptonshire

  • Norfolk: River Bure and Spixworth Beck

  • Suffolk: River Deben from, and including Debenham to Bromeswell and the River Lark from Clopton to Martlesham

  • Cambs/Beds: Rivers Kym and Til and the Riseley Brook

  • Northamptonshire: Harpers Brook between Great Oakley and Islip and Willow Brook between Corby and Fotheringhay

  • Suffolk: Blyth and Walpole Rivers and Chediston, Bramfield and Wrentham watercourses

  • Essex: River Crouch from Noaks Bridge to Runwell, including Wickford

  • Norfolk/Cambs: Hundred Foot Washes, also known as the Ouse Washes, including the causeways at Earith, Sutton Gault and Welney

More than 20 mm (¾ inch) of rain fell within six hours on Thursday morning in some parts of the Anglia region.
