Anglia Weather: A bright start but rain later on Christmas Day

Christmas Day will start mainly dry, bright and chilly.

Increasing cloud will bring milder conditions and occasionally heavy rain from mid morning, and through much of the afternoon.

Light or moderate winds will become brisk or strong southwesterly later.

Still very mild for Christmas with a maximum temperature 13°C.

Christmas Day temperatures in the UK in 2015 will come close to the all-time record for the 25 December.

The highest maximum temperature recorded on Christmas Day in the British Isles is 15.6°C, measured in 1896 at Leith in Scotland and again in 1920 at Killerton, Devon.

The highest recorded on Boxing Day in the UK was 16.0°C in Haddington in East Lothian.

Christmas night

It will be a cloudy evening and night with occasional spells of mainly light rain.

Very mild with fresh or strong southwesterly winds.

Minimum temperature 12°C.

Boxing Day

Boxing Day will be cloudy and mainly dry with isolated spells of rain.

Very mild with some bright spells possible.

Southwesterly winds will be fresh or strong.

Maximum temperature 14°C.

Outlook

  • Rather cloudy, mainly dry on Sunday, but perhaps brighter later with freshening southerly winds.

  • Mainly dry on Bank Holiday Monday, but occasionally heavy rain and strong winds Monday evening, overnight and Tuesday.
