Suffolk police stations to close to public
Only three of Suffolk's 18 police stations are to have manned front desks in the future.
By next April there'll also be 68 fewer PCSOs on the county's streets.
The changes will be implemented to save money. The Constabulary is required to deliver savings of £20.5 million by March 2020.
The force says the demand facing police has changed too, so services need to be realigned to the areas posing the greatest threat, harm and risk.
The changes proposed
Reducing the number of Safer Neighbourhood Teams from 29 to 18
Removing 68 PCSO posts from the organisation.
The closure of a number of police station front counters, leaving only three public access points in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft.
Reductions in back office staff (ICT, Estates & Facilities, Transport Services)
Secretary of Suffolk Police UNISON Branch Mark Trask said the cuts are a real blow to staff and will be felt by the local community.
