A mother and a grandmother have been sentenced to a total of 16 years imprisonment for causing the death of a seven-month-old baby.

Baby Imran was found dead at his Luton home in January after losing 17 per cent of his body weight in just nine days.

Jessica Price, 24, and her mother Angela Price, both of Morris Close were sentenced to eight years in prison each for allowing it to happen.

In court health professionals said they had visited the house but were ignored when they told mother Jessica to take the baby to a clinic regularly to get weighed. In the end experts concluded Imran had died of dehydration and not getting enough food.

Police say the sentences were deserved.
