A Europe-wide minute's silence took place today with many parts of the eastern region falling silent at 11 o'clock our time (12 o'clock in Paris).
In Northampton council staff among others stood outside the Guildhall to reflect on the terrorist attacks on Friday 13th November.
Staying in the county and Northamptonshire police also joined the minute's silence, tweeting a photo afterwards.
In Cambridge, the Alliance Française opened its doors for French people living in the city to come and get support.
The charity says it welcomes all nationalities.
In Clacton, a minute's silence was held outside the Town Hall. Tendring District Council staff were joined by Councillors and passers-by at 11 o'clock.
A book of condolence has been opened in Harlow Civic Centre. The town is twinned with Velizy-Villacoublay which is just 9 miles from Paris. The book will the be sent to the Mayor there, Pascal Thevenot.
A candle lit vigil will take place at the University of Essex at Wivenhoe near Colchester tonight.
