Newly crowned world champion Max Whitlock given hero's welcome on return to Essex

Gymnast Max Whitlock has returned to his gym in Essex for the first time since making history at the World Championships in Glasgow over the weekend.

The 22-year-old from Hertfordshire became the first man ever to win gold for Team GB in the championships when he claimed the pommel horse.

He also took silver in the floor and helped Team GB come second overall.

Today, he was back at the South Essex Gymnastics Club in Basildon where it all started.
