"This is the toughest time I've had as a manager" CUFC manager's admission in the run up to shock exit
Cambridge United's decision this morning to sack manager Richard Money came as a shock to fans.
But in an interview with ITV News a fortnight ago he admitted that he was going through his toughest spell in charge
The club's concern was the run of results since their cup exit in February.
They'd won just eight out of 36 games.
Friday night's home defeat to Bristol Rovers left the U's in eighteenth place.
Assistant boss Joe Dunne will prepare the team for their FA Cup tie with Basingstoke at the weekend.
Despite sacking him Cambridge say he'll always be welcome at the club.
In May last year Money guided the club back into the Football League after a nine year absence via the Conference play-offs.
They'd won the FA Trophy earlier that season. Last season's highlight was holding Man United to earn an FA Cup Fourth Round replay at Old Trafford.
