There's anger in Norfolk and Suffolk as the local Clinical Commissioning Group announces plans to close two hospitals in the area.

The latest round of tough NHS decision-making will almost certainly mean the closure of two community hospitals and a reduction in the number of beds at two others.

Great Yarmouth and Waveney clinical commissioning group says it wants to close Southwold Hospital and the Patrick Stead Hospital Halesworth.

Beds are also likely to go at All Hallows Hospital at Ditchingham and Northgate Hospital in Yarmouth.

The commissioning group says the cuts and closures will be offset by using beds at Beccles Hospital as well as NHS-funded beds with care provided in local nursing and residential homes.

But campaigners have criticised the decision saying the beds are needed for the region's growing elderly population.
