Edith Cavell centenary events
Below are some of the events celebrating the life of the Norfolk heroine.
Friday September 4 to Thursday October 22. Norwich Cathedral. A commissioned exhibition of 14 paintings by Brian Whelan on ‘The Passion of Edith Cavell: The Way of the Cross’.
Monday October 5 - Dec 4 Norfolk Record Office exhibition on women in WW1 including Edith Cavell and associated community outreach.
Monday October 5 - 18 Norfolk and Norwich Hospital – exhibition celebrating nursing history
Friday 9 October A talk by Diana Souhami , Edith Cavell's biographer. 7.30pm at Peterborough Cathedral
Saturday 10 October Service at the graveside of Edith Cavell at Norwich Cathedral. 11am
11am, 12pm, 1pm + 2pm - The Forum, Norwich. Talks throughout the day by Georgette Vale, a 'living historian'.
3pm and 7.30pm. Norwich Cathedral. The story of Edith Cavell will be re-told through words and music in Remember Edith Cavell, performed by Searchlight Theatre Co, the Cathedral Consort and Cavell orchestra.
Saturday 10 October & Sunday 11 October Cavell Carbolic and Chloroform at Peterborough Museum, Priestgate, Peterborough. Timed tours half hourly through each day, 10.00am – 4.00pm. The tour around 50 minutes and features actors.
Sunday October 11 St Mary's Swardeston: Concert 7.30pm- with piano work in memoriam premiere.
Monday 12 October Two minutes’ silence at 7.00am at Peterborough Cathedral, followed by 7.30am Morning Prayer with Holy Communion to mark the exact time Edith Cavell was executed.
12pm-1pm. The Forum, Norwich. Edith Cavell: Duty, Devotion and DignityTalk (in costume) by Rachel Duffield.
Special service at Norwich Cathedral led by the Bishop of Norwich, Rt Rev Graham James, 6pm.
Tuesday 13 October 6pm-7pm. The Forum, Norwich. The Edith Cavell Story 1915-2015 Dramatic Storytelling by Julie Ann Cooper.
Wednesday 14 October 6pm-7pm. The Forum, Norwich. Edith Cavell: Duty, Devotion and DignityTalk (in costume) by Rachel Duffield.
Thursday 15 October 12pm-1pm and 6pm-7pm The Forum, Norwich. Edith Cavell: Faith Before the Firing SquadBook lecture and signing by Catherine Butcher.
3pm and 4pm - The Forum, Norwich. Talk by Georgette Vale a ‘living historian’.
Friday 16 October 11am, 12pm and 1pm. The Forum, Norwich. Edith Talks throughout the day by Georgette Vale a ‘living historian’.

Saturday 17 October The Edith Cavell Centenary Concert 7.30pm in Peterborough Cathedral featuring choral music from the 1914-18 period.
Saturday 24 October Great War Fashion, a talk by Lucy Adlington of History Wardrobe 2.30pm in Peterborough Cathedral.
