Suffolk couple win fight over medical costs after baby born prematurely in Dominican Republic
A couple from Suffolk, who faced hundreds of thousands in medical costs when their baby was born prematurely in the Dominican Republic, have been told their insurance company will pay up.
Sharon and Dan Compton had been on holiday for a few days when Sharon was rushed into hospital in early labour. She was 29 weeks pregnant and baby Evie was born weighing just 2lbs 10 oz.
The couple had to pay almost £9,000 upfront for Sharon to be admitted to hospital and for the subsequent care.
But their insurance company were at this point not paying out saying Sharon had just gone beyond 28 weeks, when cover stops.
ITV cameras were rolling in their family home back in Claydon, when news came that the insurance company had changed their mind.
