Tourism in the region is showing no sign of letting up, despite the holiday season coming to an end.

Almost double the number the number of bookings were taken by businesses in Wroxham in Norfolk last weekend - the first of the off-peak season - compared with the previous weekend.

It is thought visitors are being attracted by the lower prices.

Barbara Greasley, who runs the boat hire company Norfolk Broads Direct, said business had been growing steadily over the last two years.

Despite this summer being blighted by wet weather, she said day boat hires were up by 8% compared with last year.

Cambridge-based punt hire company Scudamores put its success down to the city's number of overseas visitors, who pour millions into the economy each year.
