Why Ipswich Town's trip to Old Trafford could disrupt Coronation Street's live episode
A live episode of Coronation Street could be disrupted tonight by the sound of cheering from nearby Old Trafford where Ipswich Town are taking on Manchester United.
A special hour-long live instalment of the soap will be broadcast at 19.30 to celebrate 60 years of ITV, while Town's Capital One Cup clash against the Premier League giants gets underway half an hour later.
Coronation Street recently moved to new state-of-the art studios at Trafford Wharf, which is under a mile away from the Theatre of Dreams.
There are concerns that if a goal is scored in the first half at Old Trafford, the noise could be picked up on the programme.
However, producers have reportedly taken the precautionary measure of ensuring the set is as sound proof as possible.
