New technology aims to help cut noise from Luton Airport
Luton Airport's introduced new technology to make flight paths more accurate which they hope will help cut the noise disturbance to local residents.
The airport's in the middle of an expansion programme. At the moment just over 12 million passengers use Luton every year but that's set to grow to 18 million.
From this month flights leaving the airport and heading west will be guided by Area Navigation Technology, known as ARNAV
This uses GPS style technology to draw flights away from more densely populated areas.
Local people living in the area are giving the new technology a cautious welcome but fear it won't help those living closest to the airport and are calling for the number of flights at night to be restricted.
