More people living in rural areas are getting fast internet thanks to the church
The Diocese of Norwich has teamed up with a local provider of internet, WiSpire and media group, Archant, to put wifi masts on rural churches in Norfolk in order to improve broadband speeds in villages.
In return for an incentive fee, the church will host a mast on its tower which can provide 8mbit download and 1mbit upload speeds for local households.
A number of churches in Norfolk are using the masts but with 653 of them across the county the Diocese and WiSpire have a long way to go before there is full coverage.
