Police are warning members of the public not to approach a man they're trying to trace in connection with a murder inquiry in Peterborough.

A manhunt's underway to find Vitautas Jokubauskas after a woman's dismembered torso was found inside a suitcase in a house in Mayor's Walk yesterday afternoon.

Police say they're keen to speak to the 57-year-old man, who'd been renting the property, in connection with the murder.

The grim discovery was made yesterday afternoon (5 June) after tenants in the shared house complained about the smell coming from a bedroom.

The last reported sighting of Mr Jokubauskas was on May 30 when he was taken to work in Huntingdon by a friend. He may now have fled abroad.

The body has not yet been identified, however detectives are urgently trying to trace the suspect's girlfriend.

She's described as around 40 and also from Lithuania.

They say it's possible local people may have seen them drinking in neighbourhood pubs.

A post mortem will be carried out on Monday.
