The chief executive of Norwich City Football Club has given a candid interview to ITV News Anglia about the club's return to the Premier League, the appointment of Alex Neil and his own future.

Speaking to Jonathan Wills, David McNally started by expressing his disappointment that there would not be a civic parade in the city because the players were off on holiday or on international duty and it had not been logistically possible to organise.

Paying tribute to his manager Alex Neil - who has turned the season around for the Canaries - he said: "By any measure he's over delivered, no question, and I think he was hugely unlucky not to get automatic promotion."

Speaking about how they will prepare for the Premier League, David McNally said: "We'll sit down with Alex and look at the positions he wants to improve or strengthen.

"We have a few players out of contract so we'll need to replace those, but in my time here this is certainly the best squad of footballers that we've ever had, so we're going into the Premier League in strong shape."

Reflecting on his own future, and potential interest from larger clubs in Alex Neil, he said: "I'm ambitious but I want to do well with Norwich City, I want us to continue to improve so I'm not concerned about that at all.

"And as far as Alex is concerned if other clubs are interested in him I think that's a quality problem to have, I'd rather have other clubs interested in our players and our manager because that means we're doing something right, that means we must be winning football matches."
