Sir Bob Russell has lost his Colchester seat in a massive blow for the Liberal Democrats in the Anglia region.

Sir Bob has been the MP since 1997 and is the longest serving Liberal Democrat in the Anglia region.

Colchester was held by the Conservatives from 1950 until 1997.

Sir Bob was knighted in 2012 for public service. He has previously been a Colchester councillor for more than 20 years and is a former Mayor of the town.

He lost his seat to the Conservative Will Quince.
