Norfolk says goodbye to the Light Dragoons
The Light Dragoons regiment, based at Swanton Morley in Norfolk, paraded through the streets of Dereham today for the final time.The reconnaissance unit, which has served several tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as tours of Bosnia, Kenya and Ukraine, has been based at Robertson Barracks in Swanton Morley since August 2000.
Around 4000 people, including hundreds of schoolchildren, lined the streets of Dereham to bid farewell to the Dragoons. They are relocating to Catterick in Yorkshire.
In June, the Dragoons will be replaced by the 1st Queens Dragoons Guards, the Welsh Guards.
