Norwich is soon to host an exhibition of some of the world's greatest artists
The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Art in Norwich is hosting one of its most prestigious exhibitions ever. It is entitled 'Francis Bacon and the Masters' and includes 100 works of art.
The Sainsbury Centre sent 13 Bacon works to the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg in Russia in the hope they would send 34 of their best known works back in return. Among the works are Van Goghs, Cezannes and Picasso's. But Russia's military intervention in the Ukraine nearly scuppered the whole exhibition.
Francis Bacon was inspired by many great works of art and this exhibition brings them together to show how he emulated many classic works. The exhibition runs from Saturday 18 April - 26 July.
