The film 'Chariots of Fire' was inspired by the stories of British athletes competing in the 1924 Olympics, and now the charity race in Cambridgethat took its name from that film has reached its own significant milestone.

Since 1992 the 'Chariots of Fire' relay has raised £1million.

The 1981 film recreated a race around the quad of Trinity College - the aim being to finish before the clock strikes 12.

That sprint was again contested in 1988 by Olympians Sebastian Coe and Steve Cram.
