Police believe local community holds key to solving Wisbech pensioner's murder

Detectives investigating the murder of Una Crown from Wisbech are still searching for the person/s responsible, almost two years on from her death.

The 86-year-old’s body was discovered in her bungalow in Magazine Lane on Sunday 13 January 2013. A post-mortem examination revealed she died of stab wounds to her neck and chest and her body had been set on fire.

She had not been seen alive since Friday 11 January, but had spoken to a friend over the phone at about 5pm on the Saturday, the day before she was discovered by police.

A £10,000 reward from the independent charity Crimestoppers is still on offer for information which leads to the arrest and successful conviction of Mrs Crown’s killer.

A 44-year-old man from Wisbech was arrested on November 11 on suspicion of Mrs Crown's murder. He was released on police bail to return to Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough tomorrow.

Three men previously arrested on suspicion of murder have all been released with no further action.
