Ipswich care home first to be rated 'outstanding'
A care home from Ipswich has become the first to be given an 'outstanding' rating by the Care Quality Commission.
Prince of Wales House in Ipswich is a residential care home providing personal care for up to 49 older people. The service also provides specialist care for people living with dementia.
The inspector for the Care Quality Commission is full of praise for the staff and management at the home.
The home has it's own 'snug bar' which has been created for residents who wanted to have their own 'local bar', so they can carry on enjoying a drink and play cards and darts or watching TV.
The commission which inspects and rates health and social care services introduced a new rating system last year.
300 homes and care service providers have been rated so far.
Prince of Wales Care Home is the only care home to be given the top mark.
