Fresh drugs warning after another man is taken to hospital

Suffolk Police have issued a fresh warning about a dangerous batch of ecstasy tablets after another man was admitted to hospital after claiming to have taken the drug.

An investigation is currently underway into deaths of two young men in Ipswich, on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, believed to be linked to a dangerous batch of ecstasy tablets. The death of a third man in Rendlesham is also under investigation.

A 37-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in Ipswich town centre in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 4 January. The man became unwell and disclosed to officers that he had taken a pill marked with a superman logo. The man was admitted to A&E at Ipswich Hospital in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 4 January. He has since been discharged.

Police are urging anyone in possession of the red triangular pills marked with a distinctive superman logo to hand them in to prevent further deaths or harm.

A man has been charged and two men have been bailed following arrests made as part of the investigation into the deaths.

19-year-old Adrian Lubecki of St Matthews Street in Ipswich has been charged with being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs (ecstasy) and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug. He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday 5 January.
