Three men arrested in suspected drugs deaths case
Three men have been arrested by police in Suffolk investigating three suspected drugs deaths in the county.
The men, aged 19, 20 and 26 from Ipswich, were arrested on Friday on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs. They are in police custody at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre awaiting questioning.
The arrests follow the recent deaths of two young men in Ipswich, on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, believed to be linked to a dangerous batch of ecstasy tablets. The death of a third man in Rendlesham is also under investigation.
Police are urged anyone in possession of the red triangular pills marked with a distinctive superman logo to hand them in to prevent further deaths.
Suffolk Police are linking the deaths of two men in Ipswich, a 22-year-old man in Bramford Lane on Christmas Eve and a 24-year-old man in Provan Court on New Year’s Day, to the drug and investigating links to a third death, that of a 20-year-old man in Chestnut Close, Rendlesham, also on January 1.
A second man found in a serious condition at the Provan Court address was rushed to hospital where he is making a recovery.
Officers are also looking at potential links to similar deaths elsewhere in the country including in the West Mercia area.
Anyone in possession of the drug is asked to surrender it to police, in person or by calling 101.
They can also be handed in to the following local agencies:
· CRI, St Matthews Street, Ipswich
· MVA Team, 70 – 74 St Helens Street, Ipswich
· Fire Service, Princes Street, Ipswich
