Police suspend licenses of two Northampton bars after six people are stabbed in street brawl
Six people have been rushed to hospital after being stabbed during a brawl near a bar in Northampton early this morning.
Two others were also injured and are in hospital too, but it's not thought that they have received stab wounds.
It's believed that the "serious disturbance" started in Faces Bar, before spilling onto Bridge Street at 4am.
Three people were taken to a specialist trauma unit in Coventry and the other five were taken to Northampton General.
Following the news, Northamptonshire Police introduced an immediate suspension of the licenses for NU Bar and Faces nightclubs.
Northampton Borough Council will now hold a review in the near future to decide whether the licenses should continue to be suspended in the longer-term.
Robert Snajder, who is the Manager of Faces bar, says that the fight initially started in his club's garden when a group of people started arguing.
It's then thought that the group ran out of the bar before fighting in the street.
Mr Snajder says that he doesn't believe that any knives were taken into his venue due to the fact that he had recently purchased a £3,500 metal detector to expose any weapons that may be brought onto the premises.
