Surgeons from across the world have been in Cambridgeshire to learn from pioneering work being done at Papworth Hospital.

Minimally invasive operations use cameras so patients can have life-saving procedures without the need for open chest surgery.

It means with just a small incision, surgeons can see and operate inside the body.

80% of Mr Scarchi's cases now use this technique.

It means patients which would have been too sick or too frail to undergo open chest surgery can now have life saving operations with fewer complications and recover much more quickly.

Papworth has been hosting a global conference about minimally invasive surgery. It's hoped other surgeons from across the world can learn about the pioneering work being carried out here in the East.
