Across the region, special services are being held this weekend to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.

As a tribute to those who attempted to rescue wounded colleagues, three friends are on a 50 mile sponsored march through Norfolk dressed as stretcher bearers.

For Tom Cook, Stephen Hunt and Lyndon March it was a sponsored walk with a difference.

Raising money for The Royal British Legion, the three carried each other on a series of extended relays across parts of the Cross Norfolk Way and into Norwich itself in time for the Commemoration service at the cenotaph at City Hall. They lived as soldiers of the period, experiencing authentic clothing, eating army rations and sleeping in the open as the men of 100 years ago did.
