The search for a man missing in Milton Keynes since the early hours of Monday morning has been called off after a body was found in a lake.

Friends had gathered at lunch time to search for Alex Todd-Weller but just three hours later police held a press conference to announce that a body had been discovered in Furzton Lake.

It's not yet been formally identified but police say it is believed to be Alex Todd-Weller. His family has been told.

Police say they're not treating the death as suspicious at this time.

Thames Valley Police say they'd like to thank the press, public and the search teams for their help and ask that Alex’s family’s privacy is respected during a difficult time.

Alex, who was 21, and from Shenley Brook End in Milton Keynes, was last seen leaving the Pink Punters nightclub in Watling Street at 3.20am on Monday. Police were combing through CCTV pictures in an attempt to trace him.

A friend of Alex Todd-Weller has thanked those who were joining the search for him. In a statement on Facebook, Matt Adams also asked for prayers and thoughts to go out to Alex's family.
