Overnight action helps put an end to bus chaos

Emergency changes have been made to the road layout in Northampton town centre after the opening of the new Northgate Bus station caused traffic chaos yesterday.

Queues of buses left passengers stranded as operators found they couldn't get vehicles in or out of the new station.

Just a day after it opened queues of buses stretched as far as the eye could see as the entire network came to a standstill.

The Borough Council is determined that won't happen again and has made several changes to the road layout in a bid to avoid a repeat of yesterday's chaos.

The leader of Northampton Borough Council David Mackintosh and a little earlier he told me that things had gone more smoothly today than yesterday.
