Storm cuts power to 11,000 homes in the East
The strong winds overnight have left more than 11,000 homes without power in the Anglia region on Christmas Eve.
The worst-hit county in the Anglia region in Suffolk with nearly 4,000 homes affected.
UK Power Networks says it has brought in additional staff to cover engineer, technical and call centre roles but it has been difficult to enlist help from other contractors because of Christmas. Other power companies also have their own weather-related problems.
These are the homes affected in each county:
350 in Bedfordshire
700 in Buckinghamshire
1,590 in Cambridgeshire
1,807 in Essex
400 in Hertfordshire
3,160 in Norfolk
3,380 in Suffolk
People are being urged to report any power cut or damaged power lines in the East of England to 0800 783 8838.
