Road safety events coming to Hertfordshire
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is to host a series of events to highlight road safety messages for young people. It is part of National Road Safety Week from 6th-12th May.
Road accidents remain one of the biggest single killers of young people in the UK. In 2011, 79 young people aged 17 to 25 were killed or seriously injured on Hertfordshire's roads.
The fire service will take a crashed car to colleges and the University of Hertfordshire. There will also be a road safety road show at South Mimms Service Station, as well as school visits and public events at shopping centres.
In addition, there will be a promotional trailer to raise safety awareness among motorcyclists using the A507 which has a high casualty rate.
