Work has started to complete the Great Dunmow northern bypass. The £1 million road finishes the 2 km bypass which will take traffic away from the centre of the town.

The cost of the whole single carriageway road is £5 million.

The final 600-metre section will be complete by early 2014.

The new road will link the B184 from Saffron Walden and Thaxted to the B1256 to the west of Great Dunmow.

Uttlesford District Council has been working with the Wickford Development Company to bring forward the delivery of the bypass as part of an application for 125 more houses on the Woodlands Park development.
