Transplant fact file for the Anglia region

Almost a thousand people in the Anglia region need an organ transplant and there's a desperate shortage of donors.

  • 685 people are currently on the active transplant list in the region

  • 304 need a transplant but are not on the 'active' list usually because they are too ill to survive an operation

  • 45 people in the region die each year while on the transplant list

  • 455 people receive a transplant every year

  • 2,329,067 people in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire are on the Organ Donor Register

  • More than two-thirds of the population are not signed up the the Organ Donor Register.
