US helicopter in safety alert
An American military helicopter from Lakenheath has been forced to land in a field after smoke began to fill the cockpit.
The HH-60G Pave Hawk made what's described as a 'precautionary landing' near Santon Downham on the Norfolk border with Suffolk.
The helicopter had 6 people on board. None were injured.
The Pave Hawk is operated by the 56 Rescue Squadron. Members of the Squadron are trained to recover downed aircrew behind enemy lines.
It's thought the smoke was caused by a faulty motor in a windscreen wiper.
