A rare model of a Chinese junk which has been sitting in an Essex loft for 30 years is expected to make upto £8,000 in an Asian Art Sale on Tuesday 13 November.

The two foot high ivory model is just one of the lots going under the hammer at the specialist sale at Sworders’ Stansted Mountfitchet auction rooms.

The owner, who lives in north Essex, has transported the model on several house moves but has always kept it in the attic. The model's worth was only realised when it was taken to experts for a valuation.
