Healthy fry to help lorry drivers shed their loads
A new scheme aimed at getting truckers to swap a greasy fry ups for healthier options has been launched in Suffolk today.
Research has shown that more than a quarter of all lorry drivers are obese or morbidly obese and so a new scheme has been launched to hep them shed their loads.
The campaign to encourage them to eat healthier foods was launched today at the Orwell Bridge truckstop near Ipswich by supermarket giant Morrison.
Instead of the normal greasy fry up, the truckers are being encouraged to sample a healthier fry down - a traditional style breakfast, but using the grill instead of the frying pan.
The scheme is backed by GP and radio health expert Dr Sarah Jarvis.
Truckers will also be given 'Weigh-by' health checks, with BMI check and one-to-one advice while 'on the road'
