Further appeal for witnesses to party stabbing

Jay Whiston was 17 when he died

Detectives investigating the death of an A-level student at a party in Essex have said they believe people who know the identity of his killer are yet to come forward.

17-year-old Jay Whiston from Clacton was stabbed at a house party on Marlowe Way in Colchester on the 8th of September. He died later in hospital.

Police believe details of the party were circulated on Facebook and a number of uninvited guests turned up. Partygoers were interviewed by officers in the days following the murder, but detectives are yet to find his killer or the knife used in the attack.

A number of knives were recovered from the area surrounding the house but police do not believe any of them are the murder weapon.

Five people from Colchester were arrested on suspicion of murder during the hours and days following the stabbing. The three 18-year-old men and two 17-year-old boys have had their police bail extended until November 22.

Anyone with information in connection with Jay's death is urged to contact detectives at Colchester's major investigation team on 101.
