Luton could become UK's major airport
Luton could become the UK's major airport according to a new report out this morning.
The study by the Policy Exchange, a Conservative-backed think tank, says a four runway airport should be built at either Luton or Heathrow.
The report says plans supported by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson for a new airport in the Thames Estuary would be impractical.
The report also called for a complete ban on the noisiest of aircraft at all times, a complete ban on night flights (between 11pm and 6.15am) and steeper landing angles to cut down on noise.
