The Lewsey Park Pool in Luton is about to undergo a major £200,000 refurbishment which will see it close for three months from 1st November.

The project will include installation of new disabled and family changing facilities and a complete re-tiling of the pool and walls.

The pool on Pastures Way will re-open on 26 January with the work deliberately planned over the winter period to minimise disruption to customers as the centre would be closed over the Christmas period anyway.Luton Borough councils says swimmers are being encouraged to use the nearby Lea Manor Recreation Centre or the Inspire: Luton Sports Village.

Active Luton has also been working with clubs and has made arrangements for training sessions to be held at the alternative pools during the refurbishment.Cllr Mohammed Ashraf, Portfolio Holder for sports and arts on Luton Council, said: “I hope this demonstrates that the Council and Active Luton are absolutely committed to providing modern sports facilities to Luton residents to support them to live healthier and more active lives.”
