Cobblers hope to score bone marrow transplant for fan
Throughout his illness Cobblers fan Steve Evans has remained positive.
The 57 year old from Bugbrooke near Northampton has lymphoma - a type of blood cancer.
His only hope of a cure is a bone marrow transplant, but with a national shortage of donors - his family knew they had to do something.
So they set about organising tonight's event with the help of Steve's favourite football team Northampton Town.
Steve and his family are only too aware that this evening's recruitment drive may not result in a donor for him but they know it may help others.
Steve Evans family hope the event at Sixfields will result in many more donors on the register and raise awareness of just how easy it is to save a life.
